Staff And Leadership
The Rev. Susan M. Barnes, Transitional Pastor
Minister’s office hours – Tuesday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and by appointment
Welcome! If you are looking for a spiritual home, we hope you find one with us. I came to John Knox January 2020 as their transitional pastor, ready to help them discern their mission in the community and explore what God was calling them to do and be. Two and a half months later, the pandemic hit. We shut the doors of the church and began online worship for those who were online. For those who were not, we mailed out copies of the worship service, including scripture and liturgy. We wanted people to share in worship even when we couldn’t be together.
In early spring of 2021, our parishioners were delighted to share their vaccination dates so we could celebrate in emails and newsletters. Our vaccinations and our mask-wearing demonstrate our Christian commitment to love our neighbors and ourselves. We were able to resume in-person worship May 2021. We are in the process of adding an online version of worship. We are all figuring out how to do mission as a post-pandemic church.
To reach me, call the church and leave a message. I will return your call. I’m often in the church building outside my office hours.
Since 1989, I’ve served churches in Montana, Iowa, Oregon, Oklahoma, and now Louisville. I love translating Scripture and finding out how the stories in the Bible speak to our stories. I do watercolor quilting and make stoles. I’m married to Mike Ferguson and we have two grown children, a boy and a girl.
